2010 ELECTION: Bob Myhr Seeks
Re-Election to County Council
Bob Myhr is seeking re-election to the San Juan County Council representing District 6 – Shaw, Lopez, Blakely, Decatur, and Center Islands. Myhr was first elected County Commissioner in 2005. Re-elected in 2006, he served as the first chair of the new six- member County Council. "I hope I have earned the trust and confidence of the voters and their support for another term," said Myhr in his announcement.

Join San Juan County Council Member Bob Myhr, at his regularly scheduled meetings, for a discussion of county issues including Lopez Village subarea plan, ferry schedules, solid waste status and plan, Odlin Park renovation and reserve, CAO/SMP and other items. Everyone welcome. Next meeting will be in September.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS under Bob’s Leadership on the County Council
- Preserved Lopez Hill with $5.95 million funding and 50-year lease from DNR
- Completed the Lopez Village Urban Growth Area (UGA) and GMA compliance
- Established Lopez Village Planning Review Committee
- Completed upgrade of Fisherman Bay Road
- Expanded walkways along roads in Lopez Village
- Supported senior services, health services, and parks with voter levy approval
- Acquired funding and started process to keep Odlin South as a county park reserve area
- Consolidated emergency services with sheriff deputies moving to Lopez Fire Hall
- Initiated legislation to encourage use of electric cars on all county roads
- Worked toward protecting BLM lands (Iceberg Point, Colville and Chadwick Hill, and other BLM holdings in the county) as Natural Conservation Areas
- Approved change of land use code to provide community swimming pool, if funded
- Updated dangerous dog ordinance
- Held regular monthly citizens’ information meetings
- Held more Council Meetings outside Friday Harbor on Lopez, and Orcas
- Approved Land Bank funding to preserve Turtleback Mountain on Orcas
- Updated various elements of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan
- Worked toward assuring adequate funding to save Lopez transfer station
- Sought citizen-supported review/update of the Critical Areas Ordinance for GMA compliance
