UPCOMING EVENTS

Please Join County Council Member Bob Myhr at the Lopez Library on Thursday, May 22, 2008, 4:00-5:30 pm, for a discussion of local and County Issues, including County Charter implemenation status, Lopez UGA, Odlin Park South, Fisherman Bay Road Plan, Ferries, and Other Current Issues.  Everyone encouraged to attend and provide comments and input about county policy. Everyone welcome.

ELECTION 2006

Bob Myhr was unopposed and won re-election for a four-year term on the County Council, 2007-2010. Bob comments: "I thank you, the voters of District 6, for your support, and I look forward to representing you. Please feel free to contact me at any time with your issues and concerns."

BOB'S VOTER PAMPHLET STATEMENT - 2006:

Bob Myhr was first elected to the County Council in 2005. He has lived on Lopez for 21 years. He initiated the Open Space/Conservation Plan, helped establish the Land Bank, and served on Comprehensive Plan Committees. With the Preservation Trust, Bob conserved nearly 10,000 acres of farmland and shoreline on 15 islands. On OPALCO board, he advocates low rates, new submarine electric and fiber-optic cables, and energy conservation initiatives.

Bob’s background: BA in economics and PhD in government, Fulbright Scholar, University of Washington professor, forest products industry manager, and Preservation Trust director.

Bob's priorities:

  • Restore stability to planning and bring Comprehensive Plan into compliance with GMA.
  • Effect smooth transition to charter government.
  • Encourage affordable housing alternatives.
  • Be fiscally responsible with tax monies.
  • Preserve Lopez Hill.
  • Protect fresh water and marine resources.
  • Stop abusive drugs.
  • Listen to diverse views before making decisions.
