Bob's Supporters in 2010

"For the last 3 1/2 years I have had the privilege of serving on the County Council with Bob Myhr. Bob is always prepared, asks tough questions and looks out for Lopez and Shaw as well as the rest of the County. Lopez and Shaw are fortunate to have Bob Myhr represent them on the County Council."
-- Gene Knapp
"I am very grateful to Bob for his active role in helping pass the legislation to promote the use of electric cars on Lopez and the rest of San Juan County. Since I live 6 miles from the store, it is very handy to use the electric car."
-- Karin Gandini
"I first met Bob Myhr when donating a Preservation Easement on our Lopez property to the Preservation Trust. We have been friends and fellow birders since, but it is his commitment to the conservation of these islands that has motivated me to get off my duff and help him get re-elected to the County Council.
Bob’s strong voice for conservation is needed more than ever. As our island’s population grows ever larger and more diverse, we need Bob’s perspective and knowledge and connections to hold fast to all that makes these islands what they are, which we so love.
Bob was not the only one working to save Lopez Hill but without him it would not have happened.
Bob is not the only one working to preserve farm land and put it back into the use of young farmers who could otherwise not farm, but his strong voice has been effective in making this happen.
Bob’s conservation imprint on these islands is enormous and we would be very foolish to let his voice go silent in the halls of County Government as long as he is willing to serve. While everyone is for conservation these days, few have the ability to make it happen. Bob does. Let’s re-elect him to the County Council."

"I support Bob Myhr for re-election to San Juan County Council because I believe Bob has demonstrated good judgment for the benefit of our entire county with a courteous, respectful style of leadership, even in the face of emotional dissent. As Shaw Island’s representative on the Ferry Advisory Committee, I was particularly impressed that Bob spoke up in favor Shaw in discussions of ferry schedules when some interests from Friday Harbor wished to deny us of essential ferry service. This was not just a matter of taking our side in an argument, but Bob understood the need to maintain interconnectivity of our islands for the benefit of residents, trades people, contractors, and visitors."
-- John Brantigan, Shaw Island
"When it comes to protecting our environment YOU GET IT. I appreciate
that!"
-- Jane Werntz Ward
"Spending much of my career on land-use and transportation issues, I'm much impressed with Bob Myhr. He listens to constituents on these issues and is forward thinking. As former director of The San Juan Preservation Trust, he really moved the County forward on conserving open space. On another front, as treasurer of our Davis Head Homeowners' Association, he's done an admirable job of managing our financial resources and improving the long-term viability of our water system."
-- Peter Everett
"I am sending a donation for your campaign. You have done a wonderful job, and I think you are one of the most rational people I know and that is exactly what this island needs."
-- Leoda E., Lopez property owner
"Bob Myhr is passionate about the San Juan Islands and in his effective and rather unassuming way, has contributed more than anyone I know to preserve our Islands in their pristine beauty. In this way he has helped create a more hopeful future for all of us who live here. I am very grateful to him for what he has done.
In addition, I admire him because he represents much of what I hope to find in someone who holds public office: he has integrity, he is very smart, he has convictions and stands by them, he is willing to disagree in a civilized manner, he is able to comprise when necessary. He does not grandstand or make stupid comments about his opponents. Furthermore, he is very savvy, able to cut through baloney, and a good judge of human beings. I think we are lucky to have him as a County Council member--let's keep him there!"
